Port Dickson Town is located in Negeri Sembilan, along the coastline. This small town was historically a port, and still is today, but it only services routes from Dumai in Sumatra. The town is more successfully a backbone to the tourist industry that services the 15 mile stretch of beach running south from its center. Next to the town on its northern side, however, is a hidden beach called Tanjung Gemuk which is mere minutes away from the main road via a residential housing area. This beach offers a pleasant and quiet environment despite being next to town, but it has less natural scenery and smaller shorelines. From Port Dickson town, visitors can venture to the night market area, which has been permanently established so that it opens even during the day daily. The Central Market in town is another good place for souvenir shopping. Finally, the local carnival or fun fair park in town (not to be confused with the annual Pesta Port Dickson Carnival) is a good place for families and children to spend their time riding the various attractions, carousels and the ferris wheel. |
